Our program is based on communication, whether written or spoken, and uses a variety of tools in order to help the student to grasp the cultural and social aspects of Italian life today.
Our courses favour a multicultural approach which encourages the student to participate actively to the lessons.
The language is taught through the presentation of real life scenarios, listening, watching and reading a large range of material – press cuttings, interviews given on television, film extracts, short stories. This will give the student an extensive overview of Italian culture with insights into history, literature, art, society and specific national customs.
The same scenarios are then analyzed from a grammatical point of view and are made use of during other activities in order to help the student to memorize the rules. Analysis and communication are closely linked throughout the lesson, taking into account the level and the needs of each student. In order to allow an efficient learning process, the student's rhythm must be respected and the various grammatical forms and structures dealt by degrees.
When focusing on language analysis the student performs specific written and spoken exercises which are corrected by the teacher. Communication activities include listening to tapes, reading of texts and articles, and taking part in conversations on given topics in order to practice what has been learnt.
The weekly courses are organized either on an individual basis or in groups of no more than 4 students, with three 60 minutes' lessons daily.
All levels are taken care of, from the beginner to preparing the examination of the CILS (Certificate for Italian as a Second Language).
What is specific to our school is that the teaching is not limited to the actual study hours but carries on throughout the other activities of the day, as meetings with friends or informal conversations in a congenial atmosphere.
The student is thus led to use his knowledge of Italian in all sorts of situations and stimulated to participate as actively as possible.
Our long experience has taught us that a new language is learnt more easily and its structures assimilated more rapidly in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, for the joy of learning is the basis of any linguistic process.
The joy of teaching also !
